iPhone 3G
 Firmware 2.2 - Jailbreak

USE THIS ONLY IF YOU DID THE MISTAKE OF UPDATING TO 2.2 USING ITUNES

 

IMPORTANT

To make sure whether you should use this method or not, check your iPhone's
"MODEM FIRMWARE" in Settings à General à About
 If the modem firmware was 02.28.00 You can proceed, otherwise you should not use this method.

Please note that by updating to firmware 2.2 through iTunes, you lost the potential of a soft-unlock for iPhone 3G in the near future  - unless we find a way to downgrade the baseband back to "02.11.07"- since iTunes upgrades the baseband (Modem Firmware) of your iPhone. 

 

1) Download Software:
 Download Software For WINDOWS
Download Software For MAC
Extract the files

2) Start the Jailbreaking process:

  • Make sure your iPhone 3G is connected to the computer
  • Launch the application "QuickPwn"
  • follow the on-screen instructions.

If everything went fine, you should get a screen similar to this:

Wait for your iphone to finish the jailbreaking process.

 

If you had any trouble Jailbreaking your device:
*Windows users need to have Microsoft .NET Frameworks installed on their computer, which comes preinstalled on many computers. But if you have any problems running the software, it means that you don't have it.

Important Notice for iPhone 3G Users:
If you have an iPhone 3G, you can only Jailbreak it to run 3rd part applications with this process. Software Unlock is not yet possible for iPhone 3G. But once it's available, the instructions will be available here.
