2) Download the Firmware:
Do not use Internet Explorer 8, as it changes
the file format.
*If
the file gets saved as a ".zip" file, DO
NOT extract the folder. You need to rename the
".zip" extension to ".ipsw",
If you don't know how to do this

Restore/Update your iTouch
to firmware 3.0 :
*
You don't really have to do "step 2" and
"Step 3" if you're running 3.0 firmware on your device, but
it's preferred that you do a restore to
3.0
- Make sure you have iTunes 8.2, you can download it here
- If possible sync up your contacts as you will be wiping your iPod Touch and will need to restore them back at the end of this process.
- Connect your iPod touch to the computer using a cable not the Docking Device.
-
Wait for any pop up messages to appear in iTunes and close them.
You should now be presented with a summary screen with an update and restore buttons displayed.
*If you can't see the update/restore buttons, you will need to force your iPod touch into recovery mode. To do that hold the "Home" button and the "power" button at the same time for about 30 seconds while your phone is connected to the computer until iTunes detects your iPod touch in recovery mode. - Hold the SHIFT key, and click on Restore.
- Browse to the folder where you downloaded the firmware in step 2, and select it. iTunes will then extract the file, and take about 20 minutes to complete the process. After the restore is complete, proceed to step 4.
4) Start the Jailbreaking process:
- Make sure your iPod Touch is connected to the computer
- Launch the application "redsn0w.exe" from the folder "itouchjailbreak" that you have all the files in
Click "Browse"

your "itouchjailbreak"
folder and select

screen with "IPSW

"Install Icy"

Touch is
OFF and PLUGGED IN

Step 9:
Please follow the
instructions in this
step carefully:
(it's a bit tricky)
-
Hold down the ""Power Button" for 3 seconds
-
Without releasing the Power button, Hold down the "Home Button".
Keep holding both buttons for 10 seconds -
Now Release the "Power Button", but continue to hold the "Home Button for 30 seconds.
Don't
worry if you didn't
get it right the
first time,
you'll get an error message
and you can try this
step again.
If you
did the previous
step correctly, you
will get this
screen.
Wait
till it's done.
If everything went
fine, you should get
this screen, click
"Finish"
Wait for your iPod Touch to finish the Jailbreaking process.
